Alfeia “Alfe” Goodwin for U.S. Congress (PA-5)

Alfe, a devoted mother of three and grandmother of one, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to service. Her background is as diverse as it is impressive. She is a proud product of a military family, having served alongside her oldest brother, SFC David DeVaughn, in Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2003-2004. Her dedication to our country is further highlighted by her over 20 years of service in the U.S. Armed Forces, where she has held various roles including chaplain for the military police, and currently serves in the New Jersey Army National Guard.

Alfe's educational journey is equally distinguished. She holds a Master’s degree and a Phd in Public Policy from Walden University, specializing in Terrorism Mediation and Peace. Her academic credentials are further complemented by a Master of the Arts of Religious Study from the Lutheran Theological Seminary of Philadelphia and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from Thomas Edison University.

Her commitment to public service extends beyond the military. Alfe has served as a member of the Philadelphia Police Department, where she was assigned to the 39th, 3rd, and 6th Districts and received numerous accolades, including commendations for heroism and merit.

As the proud daughter of Turner DeVaughn and Bernice DeVaughn-Mills, a "Freedom Rider" during the civil rights movement in Philadelphia, Alfe embodies the spirit of service and advocacy. Her deep-rooted values, vast experience, and unwavering commitment to public service make her the ideal candidate to represent Pennsylvania's 5th Congressional District.
