PRESS RELEASE: Delco DA Jack Stollsteimer Takes Victory Lap While More Violent Crime Occurs On His Watch

Upper Darby Township, PA - Beth Stefanide, candidate for Delaware County District Attorney, issued the following statement:

“One of Jack Stollsteimer’s proudest self-proclaimed achievements is his ‘smart on crime’ policies, which he claims reduces crime by eliminating its root causes.

There’s a problem, however. From the time he was elected in 2019 until now, DA Stollsteimer has presided over an increase in violence in nearly every municipality in Delaware County.

On Jack’s watch, the number of murders in Upper Darby, Delco’s largest municipality, jumped from two in 2019 to over 20 in 2021– a tenfold increase. Our county is home to two of the ten most dangerous municipalities in Pennsylvania.

While Jack was patting himself on the back last week Wednesday at a photo op with Governor Shapiro, Delco was experiencing a normal day under his failed leadership – another violent crime. This time, a homeless man was brutally stabbed at 69th Street Terminal in Upper Darby.

The data are clear. Our neighborhoods are less safe, our families are at higher risk, and we are witnessing crimes we never would’ve dreamed would occur in Delaware County.

That is a record no one should be proud to stand on. When it comes to the District Attorney’s Office here in Delco, it is time for a change.”
